Student Activities Coordinator

Please note internally the job title of this role will be Activities Engagement Coordinator. 

Coventry University Students’ Union (Your SU) is a membership organisation with a mission to support student success and achieve our vision that all students at Coventry University Group will fulfil their potential.  

We are looking for two individuals who can further enhance and increase student engagement in non-academic experiences, including societies, communities, events, campaigns and activities. 

Your role will be to empower student leaders and elected officers in developing events, campaigns and initiatives that bring about meaningful change and tackle challenging issues. You will provide training and support to local Student Leaders, build relationships with academic staff and support the delivery of a full calendar of events and activity.  

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with and improving engagement with hard-to-reach audiences, be passionate about promoting fairness, opportunity and equity. They’ll be organised and a great communicator, capable of presenting and training students as well as creating documents for different audiences and speaking up in meetings. Most of all, they’ll be positive and good at building rapport with stakeholders.

Key duties will include: 

  • Develop, grow and promote the Students’ Union societies and communities with an emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusivity 

  • Work with student leaders to deliver key campaigns and activities relevant to the communities such as Black History Month, LGBT History Month, Disability History Month etc. 

  • Develop and deliver training to student leaders of both communities and societies developing leadership and campaigning skills. 

  • To obtain student feedback and evaluate the effectiveness of delivered activity, identifying opportunities for development or adjustment. 

  • Track and monitor engagement, explore ways of improving student engagement and reach. 

Working Hours and Location  

This post is permanent working full-time 37.5 hours per week, a flexible approach to working hours is required.  As an organisation we have an agile working programme which allows for some opportunity for working from home.  For this role the successful candidate will be required to work on campus in our Coventry office a minimum of 3 days a week during term time, with additional flexibility to meet business need.   

Salary Details 

The salary is £25,742 - £28,759 per annum

It is usual to start at the bottom of the grade and will increase incrementally on an annual basis, however for a candidate with highly relevant previous experience an offer may be made within the grade range.
